Blood from a stone

This is probably the best work i've ever done, maybe. It was my first attempt at patch/nurbs modelling with 3d studio max. Took me forever to get the face right, noses are hard sons of bitches. 99% of the blood and 97% of the face was done with 3d studio max. All the rest was photoshop cs. The background doesn't sit right with me though. I couldn't figure out how to finish it so i went with the bluish and the pattern overlapping onto the face. If anyone has a better idea, please, tell me. Oh, and if there's something not sitting right with you, feel free to criticise the living bejesus out of this, i desperately want to make it work.

Anyway, the mask thing was an image i've had in my head for quite some time. i started trying it out with purely my drawing tablet, but that obviously wasn't working. so i tried patch and nurbs for the first time, and it took days. I really wanted to kind of get a classical greek sculpture feel to it. Now it has a kind of geisha feel to it with the blood and the white marble. Sweet. It didn't work so brilliantly though. Didn't work so badly either. The blood pouring out the eyes? kind of a mix of grief/exhaustion/crying from extended pain, the need to get it "out". Kind of a parallel with vomitting blood. Also a parallel with slitting wrists. All of that shit balled into the one. The mask is a cold emotionless shell, but the facade is all that's left.

Just another one of those base urges i have trying to get out. Better angsty mediocre crap than something else though.
